Who Is This Innovation Challenge For?

Built By Her is specifically tailored for women-owned small and growing businesses (SGBs) operating across Pakistan. To participate in the program, your business must be:  

  • A business led/co-led by a female entrepreneur in early or growth stage 
  • Innovative and poised for high growth and impact  
  • Led by a team that is open to coaching and committed to growth and innovation

We are seeking women-led creative solutions to the key problems stated below: 

Women’s Economic Inclusion

Problem Statement 1: Enhancing Financial Literacy for Women in Rural Areas: Develop a scalable solution to improve financial literacy among women in rural Pakistan, enabling them to better manage finances, access credit, and participate in economic activities.

Problem Statement 2: Bridging the Gender Gap in Digital Entrepreneurship: Create a platform that empowers women entrepreneurs to start and scale digital businesses, addressing barriers like lack of access to technology, mentorship, and funding.

Problem Statement 3: Safe Transportation for Working Women: Design an affordable and safe transportation solution for women in urban and rural areas, reducing barriers to their participation in the workforce.

Climate Change

Problem Statement 1: Community-Led Initiatives for Flood Resilience: Develop a solution that enables local communities to proactively manage and mitigate the impact of floods, which are increasingly frequent due to climate change, particularly in Sindh and Punjab.

Problem Statement 2: Sustainable Agricultural Practices: Innovate a system to help farmers adopt sustainable agricultural practices that reduce carbon emissions, improve water usage efficiency and increase resilience to changing weather patterns.

Problem Statement 3: Reducing Urban Heat Islands: Create a solution to identify and mitigate urban heat islands in major Pakistani cities like Karachi and Lahore, leveraging green infrastructure and community involvement.

Ease of Doing Business

Problem Statement 1: Streamlining Business Registration: Develop a digital platform that simplifies the process of registering a business in Pakistan, integrating various government departments to reduce bureaucratic delays and improve transparency.

Problem Statement 2: Facilitating SME Access to Finance: Create a solution that bridges the gap between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and financial institutions, enhancing access to loans, credit, and investment opportunities.

Problem Statement 3: Reducing Compliance Burdens for Startups: Design a tool that helps startups navigate regulatory compliance more efficiently, reducing the time and cost associated with adhering to legal requirements.

Cyber Security and User Protection

Problem Statement 1: Preventing Financial Fraud in Digital Transactions: Develop a cybersecurity solution to detect and prevent financial fraud in digital transactions, particularly in the context of Pakistan’s growing e-commerce sector.

Problem Statement 2: Enhancing User Privacy on Social Media Platforms: Create a tool that helps users in Pakistan better control and protect their personal data on social media platforms, addressing issues like data breaches and unauthorized data sharing.
